Among the museums outside the desert with desert exhibits and collections are: California Science Center, Los Angeles; San Bernardino County Museum, Redlands; and the Oakland Museum of California, Oakland.

Books: Leading publishers on California topics are the University of California Press, https://ucpress.edu , and Heyday Books, https://heydaybooks.com .
